  24. { Amen to that! I tried many ways to get my Zip to run on my A4008 with no luck.
  25. { I eventually got a HC+8 card and now run it almost 100% successfully on that.
  26. { The only thing that goes wrong even now is that when the HD becomes
  27. { unvalidated, I have to disconnect the Zip in order for the HD to revalidate
  28. { or the Zip hangs the system.

  30.      Could you post more info on how/why a 4008 won't work with a ZIP
  31.      drive? An HC+8 is supposed to be the same thing as a 4008 (but it
  32.      has an older ROM). I have a 4008 and ZIP along with a PP&S040 board,
  33.      and I can't seem to get the three of them to work together. I
  34.      crashed my system a while back and bought the ZIP to backup my data
  35.      before reformating my HD. I've taken the resistor packs off of my
  36.      4008 (so I *have* to have an external device attached to my system
  37.      now), but have kept them on my Quantum 540 Maverik since it is
  38.      attached via a 3cm internal cable (and is my only internal device).

  40.      Would the GURU-ROM upgrade make the 4008 work with the ZIP?  (btw,
  41.      my problem is that I get CRC errors every 8K and random freeze ups
  42.      *only* if I use any of the ram on the 040 board (it doesn't matter
  43.      if I configure it as AutoConfig or as 32bit)).
